Why have a normal vacation, when you can do something extraordinary? South Africa’s unique adventures will have you calling and booking your trip before we can even say go
Ride an ostrich
A lot of people will go horseback riding or even try riding an elephant when they travel but what about an ostrich? In Oudtshoorn at the Safari Ostrich Park you can observe groups of ostriches in their natural habitat. Establish and operated by ostrich farmers, you’ll learn all about this flightless bird before hopping on the back of an adult ostrich for a quick ride.
Whale watch
Whale watching in South Africa is unlike anywhere else. If you can make it to Hermanus between July and November you can see legendary whale watching without leaving the shore. A perfect activity if you or anyone in your group gets sea sick. Hermanus is known as the best spot in the world for land-based whale watching. Located right near Bettys Bay and Stony Point, you can leave the whales and see hundreds of penguins up close.
Explore by microlight flight.
Head up to Durban and sight see like never before. Microlight flight is a thrill ride in the sky. What looks like a cross between a bike and a hang-glider is actually a fun new way to explore the scenery. The Ballito Microlight School offers 30 minute flights over the Dolphin coast or Victoria falls. You get prepped in safety and buckled in then you’re off over the Indian Ocean or up close to a roaring fall.
